    Hi,

Does anyone know of a way (or Xtra) to save an image castmember in shockwave?

What I want to do is, in a shockwave movie, make a screenshot of part of the stage (I know how to do this), and display it (as gif, jpg, png, etc.) in a php-generated html page after I leave the page that contains the shockwave. So I need to somehow "remember" the image by writing it to disc, cache, or even post it as binary data to php??

    Thanks.

    Yes, that's one possibility, thanks.

Another possibility I am now exploring is posting the binary data of the image cast member to php, using postNetText. The posting is, ofcourse, no problem. I have found an Xtra ('BinaryXtra' from XtraMania) which can translate the image data to binary data, but this doesn't seem to work on Macintosh. It is accompanied by a .w32 file for auto downloading in shockwave... is that for Windows only or should that .w32 stuff work on Mac too?

Does anyone know of another way to get the binary data of a bitmap castmember?

http://www.xtramania.com/Products/BinaryXtra/ in the requirements section it
    does not mention Mac.
You can use the getPixel function to read out the info from an image.

Yes, but he'd lose the compression that way. It's a pitty that though the
power exists, lingo doesn't allow you to access it.
    For the wish list:
    - Support for image compression at runtime (the xtra already exists, but is
used only when publishing a movie or creating a shockwave projector)
    - Access to the binary data of a member's media.

Any chance we can have it by the end of this week? ;-)
