    Imported .swf file won't show

    Hey, Forum;

I'm trying what has to be one of the more basic functions in Director (8) but
having zero success. Been at it a couple of hours.

I have a Flash (MX) preloader animation that I want to run on the front end of
my Director movie. Cross referencing three different manuals for the procedure,
I can't get the animation to show up on the stage. I've tried importing it
direct (File/Import), through "Insert/Media Element/Flash Movie", have tried it
as a linked file and imported file, Direct to Stage... tried everything. The
..SWF I originally wanted to use had a Bitmap (Gif) in it so I built a test file
using only vector shapes. Didn't fare any better with that one.

In short, nothing I do will get this animation to show on the stage. Not even
a blank area where it should be. I see it in the Cast and on the Score but as
far as the stage is concerned, It's totally invisible.

Anyone have an idea what the secret is to making this work?

    Thanks.

    Cayce

AFAIK If it's flash MX you want to display you need to have director
    MX (or MX2004).

can you save the flash in some sort of backward compatible mode or
    something?
